In Meghalaya's embrace, serene and still,
Lies Umiam Lake, a tranquil thrill.
Also known as Barapani, a gem so bright,
Reflecting the heavens, a beacon of light.
Nestled in hills, just north of Shillong's embrace,
A reservoir of dreams, in a tranquil space.
Born from the Umiam river's gentle flow,
In the early '60s, its story did grow.
Mornings awakened with a gentle mist,
As dawn's first light, the lake has kissed.
Whispers of dawn, a soft embrace,
As the lake stirs with morning grace.
Beneath the canopy of stars at night,
Umiam Lake gleams with celestial light.
A tapestry of stars, a silent choir,
Reflecting in the lake's tranquil attire.
Oh, Umiam Lake, a jewel so fair,
In Meghalaya's embrace, beyond compare.
A haven of peace, where spirits roam free,
In nature's embrace, for eternity.
May the waves of Umiam, gentle and true,
Inspire our souls, in all that we do.
For in its beauty, we find our muse,
Umiam Lake, forever enthuse.
