In the abode of clouds and mountain's crest,
Where Khasi hearts beat strong and blessed,
A tradition cherished, time-honored and true,
In every home, in every view.
In every hearth, with warmth and zest,
Betel nut and leaf, by love confessed,
A symbol of kinship, in hues so bright,
Welcoming guests from dawn till night.
With reverence and respect, they're bestowed,
A gift of honor, a debt that's owed,
In Khasi homes, where hearts are kind,
Betel nut and leaf, forever bind.
With each chew, a bond is formed,
A bridge of friendship, through time adorned,
Conversation flows, like rivers wide,
As laughter echoes, side by side.
In Khasi tradition, this ritual sublime,
Echoes the spirit of a bygone time,
Where hospitality reigns supreme,
And betel nut and leaf fulfill the dream.
So let us raise a toast, to this cherished art,
That binds us close, and warms the heart,
In the land of Khasi, where legends roam,
Kwai pathi and shun, find its home.
