Dashain's Spirit

In Darjeeling hills where mountains rise,

Dashain's spirit fills the skies.

A festival of joy and light,

A celebration, pure and bright.

Ghatasthapana marks the start,

As seeds are sown, with hopeful heart.

Barley sprouts, a symbol true,

Of blessings new, for me and you.

Throughout the days, we worship Durga,

In all her forms, her grace we nurture.

With prayers and offerings, sincere and deep,

Her divine blessings, we earnestly seek.

Family reunions, laughter rings,

As loved ones gather, hearts take wings.

Elders bless with tika's mark,

A symbol of love, through light and dark.

Feasting on selroti and a grand buffet,

With flavors rich, in every way.

Spirits  high in skies so blue,

A symbol of joy, in all we do.

But Dashain's spirit goes beyond,

To acts of kindness, we respond.

In charity's embrace, we find our call,

To spread the joy, to one and all.

So let the drums of Dashain beat,

In every heart, in every street.

A festival of love and bliss,

Dashain's gathering we never miss.
