In the hills of Dehradun, where the Gorkhas proudly stand,
Lies the tale of Major Durga Malla, a hero of the land.
Born into Thakuri lineage, his heart ablaze with fire,
He marched with Gandhi's vision, against the British empire.
From student to soldier, his path was clear and bold,
In the ranks of the Gorkha Rifles, his courage we behold.
Joining the INA, with Netaji Bose's call,
He rose to the rank of Major, ready to give his all.
In the shadows of Kohima, where battles fierce were fought,
Malla stood with honor, his every action sought.
Captured by the enemy, his fate sealed by their decree,
Yet he faced his trial with dignity, his spirit ever free.
"The sacrifice I offer shall not be in vain,
India will be free," he said, amidst sorrow and pain.
To his beloved Sharda, his words of strength he gave,
As he stood for his convictions, steadfast and brave.
Married in the shadow of uncertainty, his love never waned,
Even as the gallows awaited, his spirit remained unchained.
On Martyrs' Day we remember, his sacrifice so grand,
Major Durga Malla, forever etched in our land.
With statues raised in honor, his memory we uphold,
A symbol of courage and sacrifice, courageous and bold.
In the heart of every Gorkha, his legacy shall stay,
Major Durga Malla, guiding us on our way.
