Abundant Cultures in the Shillong Hills

In Shillong's hills, where dreams take flight,

Abundant cultures, bathed in light.

Khasis, Garos, Bengalis, and more,

In harmony they dwell, by Shillong's shore.

The Khasis, with their matrilineal grace,

Their customs and traditions, they proudly embrace.

The Garos, guardians of ancient lore,

Their rhythms and melodies, forever soar.

Bengalis, with their vibrant hues,

Their literature and arts, a muse.

Nepalis, with their mountain's call,

Their resilience and spirit, standing tall.

Punjabis, with their zest for life,

Their warmth and laughter, amidst the strife.

And others from distant lands afar,

Each adding their own, to Shillong's star.

In Shillong's streets, a symphony plays,

A fusion of cultures, in countless ways.

Temples, mosques, and churches stand,

Symbols of faith, across the land.

In markets bustling, with colors bright,

A kaleidoscope of sounds, in the night.

The aroma of spices, fills the air,

A feast for the senses, everywhere.

Yet amidst the diversity, a common thread,

A spirit of unity, in words unsaid.

For in Shillong's heart, there lies a bond,

A shared humanity, forever fond.

Oh, Shillong, city of peace and love,

A testament to what we're made of.

May your spirit of harmony, forever thrive,

In the fabric of cultures, you so beautifully revive.
