In the misty hills of Meghalaya fair,
Where legends dance in the cool, crisp air,
Lies a tale of old, both dark and deep,
Of a serpent's slumber, its secrets to keep.
U Thlen, they call it, a creature of might,
With scales like shadows, and eyes alight.
In the heart of the jungle, it coils and waits,
A guardian of secrets, at the forest's gates.
With venomous breath and a hunger dire,
U Thlen lurks, its flames of desire.
For it feasts on souls, the story untold,
A darkness within, a legend bold.
But brave were the warriors of olden days,
Who faced the beast in the moon's soft gaze.
With swords of courage and hearts of steel,
They vowed to vanquish, to break the seal.
Through valleys deep and mountains high,
They found the serpent and took a sigh.
With chants of valor and prayers divine,
They sought to banish its treacherous sign.
In the final clash, under the moon's pale gleam,
The warriors fought, a fearless team.
With a mighty blow and a righteous cry,
They struck U Thlen, and watched it die.
But legends linger, in the misty air,
Of U Thlen's wrath, of the serpent's lair.
For though it sleeps in the depths below,
Its tale lives on, in the hearts that know.
So let us heed the lessons learned,
From the folklore of U Thlen earned.
For in darkness lies both fear and light,
And in bravery, khasis find their might.
